Last week, we told you about the short list of actors that were in the running for the big-screen role of Captain America.
And while we can’t yet tell you who will play Cap, we can tell you who won’t be donning the red, white and blue costume.
Actor John Krasinksi, best known for his role on “The Office,” is out of the running as is actor Scott Porter. Porter recently signed on for a role on an upcoming CW series which would create a scheduling conflict.
Other actors out of the running include Chace Crawford, Michael Cassidy (CW’s Privileged) and Patrick Flueger.
Still in the running are Mike Vogel and Garrett Hedlund.
It’s also reported that Marvel is looking at actor Chris Evans, who played Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch in the “Fantastic Four” movies, for the leading role.
Whoever gets cast would sign a nine-movie deal, with the first two being the first “Captain America” movie and “The Avengers.”

Why are they all so young? Patrick Flueger and Chris Evans seem the two best out of the lot. But they'd both look like kids next to RDJ and Ed Norton.
What they should do is raid BSG for some actors. Helo and Apollo would be both better suited to play Cap than any of the kids listed so far. Hell, even some of the other actors in the WB stable would be better choices.
I'm still all for Awesome as Cap'n...
I agree with GazerBeam...Captain Awesome would, of course, be awesome.
Cap is kinda young when he starts. I think he was 18 when he went through the super soldier program so by the time he gets frozen he is still under 25.
Awesome for America!
I'm sorry... Nine?! (Not that I expect all of them to actually be made, but still. Nine.)
