Peter Parker Out of a Job In Latest "Spider-Man"

parkerfired2-thumb-550x835-34926The economy is taking its toll on everyone these days–even the alter ego of Spider-Man.

In the latest issue of “Amazing Spider-Man,” Peter Parker loses his job as freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle. In issue #623, Parker is publicly fired by publisher J. Jonah Jameson who then makes sure that Parker won’t be getting any other photography jobs in the greater New York area any time soon.

No word yet on how long the termination might last or what other kinds of career opportunities the newly unemployed Peter Parker will pursue. (The character was a teacher for a time during J. Michael Straczynski’s time writing the comic).

Also no word yet on just how far an unemployment check can be stretched to buy things like web cartridges.

“He’s going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over his head,” said Marvel Senior Editor Steve Wacker.

The storyline will run in the next two issues. The first is currently available at comic book stores.

  1. Wait, doesn't everyone and his grandmother know who Peter is now?

I am so out of the loop.

  2. D. C. says:

Mephisto erased everyone's memory of Peter outing his identity a few years ago when he erased Peter and MJ's marriage.

A sentence that only makes sense in the world of comics.
