"Monopoly" Details Emerge

Many of us scoffed and many of us mocked when we heard news that director Ridley Scott had signed on to direct the big-screen version of “Monopoly.”

Well, now details of the script are beginning to surface and it will probably do little to change the scoffing and mocking.

Hasbro CEO  Brian Goldner  tells MTV News that the production is still on track and that the movie should be released in 2012…or sometime beyond that.

“Ridley is still onboard and wants to be part of this and we’re very excited about this, probably for 2012…13…somewhere in the future,” he told MTV News.

Golder says the script is “great” though “it may not be all there yet.”   The script was written by “9″ author Pamela Pettler.

“The great part about Monopoly is the history, literally the history of the creation of the brand and the fact that the brand is 75 years old so you have this great opportunity for the real history as well as the fictional history to tell stories of families and characters over a brief period of time,” Goldner explained.

Yeah, it still doesn’t look like I’ll be Fandangoing my ticket just yet…

A Monopoly movie in 2012....more proof the world really will end then?

Maybe I'm too much of an optimist but I think there is a way to make anything into a really good movie. I'm not joking but I think Battleship can be a really good movie, just not exactly sure how. Anyway, let me think on it but I'm fairly certain Ridley Scott wouldn't sign on to direct a shitty script.
