Hope it does well. The best bet is that it is on the BBC so that gives it good odds of being good even if not popular. As long as it is not another Zombie plague!!!!

Zombies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, it looks more like “Jeremiah” with the most-of-the-world-dying-off scenario, espcially when throwing in the medical group like looks like it might stray to the dark side of the caduceus.
Then I saw that it was based off a series that itself was originally based off a book, so my interest is piqued.

Have any of the respondents so far, even bothered to view the original BBC version from 1975-1977? Or are you lot just jammering away?
The original series lasted for 3 seasons, and was about surviving after everyone else died of a virus. Not about zombies, nor Jeremiah.
Americans…

I loved the original survivors which was shown locally on a PBS station here in America. However one might understand the confusion with “28 days” and “28 weeks” and perhaps a few more shows where disease = zombie type movies.
I’ve no idea how this new survivors will fare as I have yet to watch the pilot. I am hoping it is as intriguing as the original that went into how one is to survive and that even those thinking they are now safe, may still die from the disease. This is pure speculation on my part.
One hopes it will surpass the original in concept, direction and acting.

I searched it out after it was brought to our attention a few months back. I have not had time to watch all three seasons, but what I have seen (1st three eps) was well put together and thoughtful. I can already see why it lasted 3 seasons, and will be getting back to it when I have the time.
I encourage all to do some digging (BT airlines *Cough*) and take a look. It is worth the effort.

Remember, Jeremiah was about rebuilding a society after all the adults died off from a virus, so the plot device comparison works in this case. Especially when you include the fear that the virus might resurface and kill the now-adult population that had survived the virus as children.
I’m still considering seeking out the book, because BBC America’s own website says that this new series is based on the book written during/after the original series, rather than the original series itself.
So viewing the original BBC series might not have much bearing on this new one, depending on what Terry chose to change for the book.

I’m watching the American premiere and it is fraking scary as they show the virus run its course.

I don’t know about the original series from the 70s; however, Summer is absolutely correct. I’ve seen the first season (series) and in the middle of the second season (series) of the current show and it couldn’t be anymore like Jeremiah except the virus doesn’t discriminate on age. When I first started watching it, Jeremiah was the first thing that came to mind. I’m really enjoying the show.
BTW, Jeremiah was a great show!
