Fox, Lilly Say They’re “Done” With Television

February 2, 2010 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: TV News

lillyActors Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly say that when the final episode of “Lost” airs later this year that it’s the last time audiences will see them working on television.

Fox has made bold statements like this in the past. He announced his retirement from television to pursue a career in feature films when his former series “Party of Five” ended. But he said that “Lost” and J.J. Abrams lured him back to the world of television.

And now if he has his way, it will be the last time he’s tied to a series.

“I think this will be the last time you see me on TV,” Fox tells E! On-line. “I’m either going to do the kind of things I want to do in the film world, or maybe I’ll just do something else entirely.”

And fans of Lilly better enjoy seeing her while they can. When the show is done, she may be done with the acting profession as a whole.

“”Acting is something I appreciate, and I think it’s been an amazing experience,” Lilly say. “But I’m not passionate about acting the way you probably should be to call yourself an actor.” She adds that she’ll probably continue on in the film world in some kind of capacity (off-screen) at some point, but “I just haven’t found where that is yet. I don’t know if anything has gelled yet. I don’t know if it fits.”

“I want to have some quiet space,” she added. “[I want to] drop off the radar a little bit and enjoy a little bit of normalcy again.”

You can catch both actors and the rest of the cast of “Lost” when the show returns tonight at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.

    WTF.
Honey, from what I’ve seen, you shouldn’t be calling yourself an ‘actor’ anyway.
Please step aside at let people who are much more talented AND passionate about the craft have a crack at the success you’ve had.
Good luck with that film thing.

Sounds Like Sour Grapes. I will not miss either one to be honest.

It’snotlike Fox andLilly are really great. As a matter a fact I think they are the two worst actors in the main cast of Lost. It could be the characters themselves but I never liked Jack and Kate. To me, the biggest flaw of Lost is that the writers used to seemed obsessed with these two boring people.

Yeah, I remember when Shelley Long and then David Caruso each declared they were done with TV would pursue a movies only career. It worked great for both. One saw her entire career go up in flames and the other eventually went crawling back to TV.
