I'm liking it so far, but a little disappointed that (SPOILER ALERT) the first Cylon was a teen with daddy issues, but it does kind of answer a nagging question I always had about the toasters' attitude toward the fleshies.
What's even funnier is the "daddy issues" ties directly into the essay I wrote 4 years ago for the "So Say We All" book, and parental issues were at the core my theory about why the Cylons were "behaving badly" towards humans.
Since we know they were making things up for BSG as they went along, and at that time Caprica as a series wasn't yet being talked about, they could have at least given me a wink and nod as thanks for the idea
From what I've seen, I like it....
I'm not wowed yet, but I'll hang with it and see where it goes.
Ron Moore deserves more than a fair shake.
Did they tweak the pilot a little? (Besides cutting the R-rated bits). It seemed to run more smoothly and easier to follow than when I first saw the DVD last year. I do like the way the second episode seems to be taking it.
The ultimate accolade to a B5 fan....
.... to have your ideas plagiarised by a studio.
The movie was awful - I couldn't even watch the whole thing! I won't even bother to give the series a chance. Just trying to milk more out of BSG!
Oh, and Summer....I hope that was sarcasm!
I thoroughly enjoyed the 1st episode of Caprica and the portion of the pilot I saw. I gave it a "B" primarily because of the fact that it was preceded by Dollhouse, which I found to be more imaginative and exciting (there being many "edge of your seat moments and total shockers in every episode"). All in all, a hard act to follow. Judging by what I've seen so-far, I will be a regular viewer as long as the quality doesn't diminish.
Ask me again after episode 6.
I like what I see! I think it may have been a little "wobbly' at first, but I think that's because we are just meeting these characters and they are establishing themselves. I am looking forward to the rest of the season.
I'm enjoying the world building of these early episodes, even if some of the characters are frustrating. I'm willing to give them the rest of the (half) season to grow on me. All in all, though, it's off to a pretty good start.
As RapidEye said, let's give it some time. Ronald Moore is excellent overall, but it's been pretty slow so far.
