With “The Wolfman” set to hit movie screens early next year, Universal Pictures is once again looking to its horror vaults for a new revival.
This time around it will be a new version of “The Creature from the Black Lagoon.”
We’ve previously brought you news that Universal was considering a new version of the classic horror film but now comes word that a Carl Erik Rinsch is in talks to direct the film. The grandson of the original writer for “Creature,” Gary Ross will co-produce the new version.
Rinsch’s shot at the horror classic comes after he directed television spots for filmmaking brothers Ridley and Tony Scott. The commercials caught Hollywood’s attention and led to Rinsch’s first feature assignment, “47 Ronin”. The Keanu Reeves’ samurai swordsman epic begins production next year, with the Lagoon reboot to follow.

Here we go again with these damn remakes! It appears that the Writers Guild strike has not ended.
Just don't screw it up. The Gillman is the greatest of all the Universal Monsters. Stay faithful to the concept and the creature and we'll be fine.
@Mitch:
I'm a fan of 'ol fishface myself. I hope to see him return in a way befitting his stature.
