Marvel Studios Head to Step Down

The chairman of Marvel Studios will step down when the deal to merge Marvel and Disney is completed, according to Variety.

David Maisel helped broker the deal between the comic book giant and the House of Mouse according to reports and has been the head of Marvel Studios since 2007, when he helped raise $525 million to get the studio up and running.

Maisel will continue to serve asan exec producer on Marvel’s next three movies, “Iron Man 2,” “Thor” and “The First Avenger: Captain America,” while pursuing other opportunities.

Kevin Feige, Marvel’s production president, will now serve as its main man for the Mouse House, reporting directly to Walt Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross.
