Fresh off the box-office success of “New Moon,” Summit Entertainment is looking for ways to expand into new franchises.
To that end, they’ve purchased the big-screen rights to the graphic novel “Alibi” from Top Cow Comics.
The series centers on a well-known socialite whose public presence establishes a perfect alibi for the covert activity of his secret twin brother, a government assassin.
Summit’s attached John Hlavin to pen the script. He was recently hired to write the fourth installment of “Underworld” for Screen Gems and is developing his Western screenplay “Gunslinger” at Warner Bros.
The studio has also signed on to partner with Participant Media on the spec script for “Invasion.”
Written by Ben Magid, “Invasion” is a described as a sci-fi action movie with an environmental theme. Further details are being kept under wraps about the film, which the studios will co-produce with distribution handed by Summit.
To hear more about Summit’s plans for its biggest franchise, “Twilight” tune in to this week’s Slice of SciFi.
