Ten Theaters Will Use Motion Seats for “Sherlock Holmes”
Hollywood is looking for the next big thing to draw movie audiences to theaters.
Now that 3-D is everywhere, the next big thing could be motion seats that move during the showing of the film. Ten theaters in the United States will try out the seats during the upcoming run of the holiday movie, “Sherlock Holmes.”
The seats will simulate the action during the movie, though they’ll remain motionless during dialogue driven moments.
The seats use a system called D-Box Motion Code, which embeds cues in the frames of the film to perfectly synchronize whatever it is their seats decide to do with whatever’s happening on screen. And according to reports, the same thing will be encoded into the Blu Ray release of the film. No word yet on how this would translate to the home theater experience.

A quick search would have given you the feedback on the home theatre experience. I have a system since 2006 and I can’t watch a movie without it. For those that can’t afford it at home, go watch a movie at the theatre
That’s just great. Now, besides the shakycam, we have the shakyseat too. Could someone please teach Hollywood that gimmicks are no substitute for writing talent?
Perhaps they will cancel each other out . . . if not, I’m sure someone will write an i-Phone app for it.
