Actor David Tennant revealed what he’ll be doing for New Year’s–he’ll be watching his final episode as the Doctor.
The second installment of “The End of Time” is set to air in the U.K. on New Year’s Day and the actor recently told the Paisely Daily Express that he’ll be watching.
“It’s my last ‘Doctor Who’. It will be nice to witness that,” he said.
However, Tennant says that fans who are used to the lighter fare of previous Christmas specials should prepare themselves for a bit of a darker storyline this holiday season.
“This year, we’ve done something different. It is still set at Christmas but it’s perhaps not got quite as much Christmas cheer as before,” he said. If you’ve seen the recently aired “Water of Mars,” you can see why Tennant might say that things won’t be as light this time around.
Tennant says he’s leaving the series with fond memories and a souvenir–he’s taking his sonic screwdriver with him.
“I’ve only once used it to impress a child,” he said. “It was a charity thing but it was quite cool. He was only about five, so it was a nice, wide-eyed moment.”
