The man behind “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Firefly” and “Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog,” Joss Whedon will be honored by the Producers Guild of America.  Whedon has been selected for the Vanguard Award, which recognizes achievements in new media and technology.

Whedon will be recognized in a ceremony in January, according to Variety.

“Joss Whedon has mastered the art of melding the newest technology with inspired storytelling, truly exemplifying the spirit of the Vanguard Award,” said David Friendly and Laurence Mark, co-chairs of the PGA Awards.
