AMC executives were probably overjoyed to see the numbers for the first night of the updated “The Prisoner.” The first two installments delivered 2.2 million viewers for the cable outlet Sunday evening.
Monday’s figures were a little less encouraging.
The second night dropped to just under 1 million viewers.
The mini-series was panned by critics, many of whom said it failed to capture the essence of the original mind-bending 1960′s version.
This probably means that the series will be only a mini-series and we’ll not see any further episodes.
Looked cool.
Parts were cool.
Ended well.
If they hadn't been doing such a hard job advertising the show DURING the show it might have been a bit better... Oh, and those creepy Palm Pre ads *shudder*
We have watched the first two episodes, with a multi-day pause between 1 & 2 (even though they were aired together!) I have to admit that my wife was reluctant to watch it, but after the first episode, she was even MORE reluctant to watch the next (hence the gap) I can't say that I tried really hard to convince her either, because I wasnt sure I cared to watch the rest of it. The promise of answers in ep 6 might just lure us to watch the rest, but maybe at the rate of 1 per week or so.

Who do networks do that? Ads are annoying enough, do they have to be for the same show I am WATCHING?!?!?!
I think the drop is due to the AMC series being compared to the original. Simply put, with the exception of a few catch phrases and nods to the original, it's simply not "The Prisoner."
Not the show isn't well written or acted, because it is... and the cinematography is gorgeous. But they should have called it something else because it bares little more than cursory resemblance to the show it;s trying to "re-image."
But, by calling it "The Prisoner," and touting it as a remake of the classic "Spy-Fi" series they set themselves up for fans to watch with a very critical eye. It's not an update that simply didn't work out well... there's just very little of the original series there. externally and internally.
And lets face it... from any *other* network, most fans would have expected something like this to happen. Unfortunately AMC has come to be a channel know for excellent programming. A good show, that could have been a great show named anything else.
The Prisoner... it's not.
