Slice of Scifi: cures your holiday boredom?

It is almost that time of the year again. Long drives in the car, sitting in the airport for hours on end, standing in the checkout line. Slice of Scifi has the cure.

During select periods of the holiday season we’ll be running extra shows from the past down the feeds. Multiple episodes to ensure you don’t run out of great content when you are still 100 miles from home.

Tell us how much extra content you’d prefer and we’ll see what we can dish up on your holiday plate.

  1. Tony says:

Personally I would rather there were zero. I have a full Podlist as it is.

  2. gt0163c says:

Extra "legacy" episodes sound like they would be great...the only problem is not only will I be 100 miles away from home but I'll also be 100 miles away from my desktop computer, the one I sync my iPod up to. Which makes it harder for me to hear them. Any chance we can get a handful of episodes all in a big dump, preferably sometime before 23 December?

  3. JimB says:

Similar to Tony - zero is a good number for me. I have plenty of podcasts to listen to, and I don't usually have any interest in re-listening to any.

  4. Eric says:

When you say “legacy”, I hope that you are not going to include that famous voice mail show with the unedited Fox Leader.

  5. Dobie says:

I would prefer not to have any "legacy" shows in my feed. I struggle to listen to all the new content that comes out every week. However it really isn't a big deal for me to just delete out the extra shows without listening to the repeats. So if some people would enjoy the additional shows and you are willing to do them, that is great. Just please clearly label these "legacy" shows so that those who do not want to listen again to something we have already heard can delete it immediately.

  6. John S. Drew says:

I have to say, I'm for zero too. Much as I appreciate it, there is too much on my podcast plate to be listening to old shows. Now, if you were to produce a new episode per week as a bonus, it would be a different story. That's what I'm doing on my podcast. We're premiering The Twelve Days of Riftmas on December 13th on The Chronic Rift. Each day there will be a new, brief episode with geeky goodness to pass the time until Christmas Eve where we've got a special guest doing his rendition of "Twas the Night Before Christmas".

  7. Yup ... should have been another voting option ... ZERO

  8. Rick Astley says:

Seconded... or is it third-ed... zero is the best option.

  9. Andrew McDonald says:

I can't think of a reason to pump any old episodes into the pipe. If people want to listen to old episodes because they have time and just need a fix they can download them from http://www.sliceofscifi.com/category/shows/

  10. Chris From Poland says:

As much as I LOVE Slice of Sci-Fi, I have to go with "zero", simply because I can use this time to catch up on other podcasts. Don't worry about us listeners and simply take a much-deserved break :-) .

  11. Mike From Des Moines says:

I wouldn't mind some more trek interviews or Bruce Campbell.
Some older voice mail shows might be interesting.
I get crankier when I can't listen to new Slice, dagnabit. Sometimes I catch myself listening to Foxleader stuff and trying to figure out "The Code".

  12. Jim says:

I vote for zero as well. I have lots of shows to listen to, and I, too, will be
    traveling...

  13. grapher says:

I'll vote for zero too. Same reason. I find I have less and less time for podcasts these days, and I just can't afford to listen to repeats. I'd rather not download something I'm just going to delete.

  14. Hils says:

The reason they are doing these repeats also include those listening through the radio. But as I listen through itunes (as do most here it would seem) I don't really need repeats unless they included new material or longer cuts of interviews or something different than what I already heard. I'd say release one a week or whatever your broadcast show normally runs.
