Netflix Add Streaming to PS3

November 9, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Technology News

If you have Netflix and a Playstation 3, you can now stream movies via the popular gaming console.

The on-line movie rental giant rolled out its streaming video service for PS3 users over the weekend.

To watch Netflix movies on your PS3, you will need to order a free special Blu-ray disc from Netflix, which then you will have to insert into your PS3 every time you want to watch a movie.

Netflix has been expanding the streaming service in the past year, adding new ways for users to stream movies as well as continuing to add to their catalog of movies and shows users can stream and watch.

I got notified by Netflix last week about this. Already had my Streaming disc sent out… Can’t wait to stream Netflix on my PS3.

I wondered why if they can do it on Xbox 360, then why couldn’t they do it on the PS3.

I’m glad its finally happened and so soon after the capability first appeared on Xbox 360.

I used it on my PS3, have to say, it’s alot slower than the xbox 360, but give it time. It’s the first build for the consumers.

Why do you need to insert a “special” disc to operate it? That’s a needless complication. Now you have to worry about losing it. Not smart.
