Roku Drops Price
The Roku device, which allows users to watch streaming content on their televisions, is introducing several new players and dropping the price on its entry level device.
The price for an entry level Roku device is dropping from $99 to $79, USA Today reports. An HD version of the device will retail for $129. A new mid-level version will retail for $99.
The $79 player doesn’t have the HDMI out connection to make it easy to plug into flat panel TVs — and will only stream video in standard definition.
Both the $99 and $129 players have HDMI out, and the new HD-XR has advanced Wi-Fi 802.11n dual-band wireless to receive what Roku says is a stronger, better signal.
Roku streams entertainment from partners Amazon, Netflix and Major League Baseball.
