Theron, Hardy Front Runners for “Mad Max”
With the collapse of “Justice League,” director George Miller is turning his attention to reviving the Mad Max franchise.
A fourth installment in the series is currently on the drawing board.
And according to MTV News, actor Tom Hardy is the front-runner to replace Mel Gibson in the role of Mad Max. Hardy is best known to genre fans for his role in “Star Trek: Nemesis”
E! Online also reports that the Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron is Miller’s top choice for the female lead.
The site goes on to point out that these rumblings should be taken with a grain of salt since the fourth Mad Max movie is a long way off from becoming a reality.
“Actors auditioning for the film have only been given a letter for their character’s name,” reports the website. “The studio has yet to sign off on Miller’s choices, and no formal offers have been made.”

NOOOOOOoooooo…..
Not another classic rebooted!
Have they no shame? Well, uh, obviously not, but Geez!
Please tell me that they’re going to film it in Australia at the very least. Lie to me if you must…
If George Miller is involved there is a very good chance it will be made in Oz. I hope you Yanks have seen the original cut of “Mad Max”? The one not overdubbed in ‘murrican. The travesty known as Road Warrior.
But then again if George Miller is involved we may get Mad Max with penguins.
Actually, the Road Warrior was Mad Max 2.
I don’t think you can really reboot Mad Max, I mean his just a generic hero in a generic post-apocalypse.
Sure the look was different, but the plot was nothing to write home about.
How is the fourth installment of a trilogy a “re-boot”?? (can you say Douglas Adams anyone?) What, just because they re-cast the main character??
Moving on …. YES, I have seen (and own) the *original* (non-dubbed) version of the first movie.
This is from today’s Sydney Morning Herald.
