Pegg, Frost Join “Paul”

October 22, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Film News

pegg_paulActor Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have joined the cast of the upcoming sci-fi comedy, “Paul.”

The comedic team, who starred in “Shawn of the Dead,” helped write the script for the project that centers on English sci-fi fans who encounter an actual alien, voiced by Seth Rogen, as they tour America to see famous UFO sites (after a stop at Comic-Con in San Diego).

The alien will be computer generated according to reports.  Rogen has apparently already recorded much of the dialogue for the role.  Frost said that some of the dialogue may need to be tweaked and re-recorded now that he and Pegg are taking part in the film.

“The stuff that we [recorded] with Seth, that was [in] the first two weeks [of] preproduction,” Frost told SciFi Wire. “Then we’ve started shooting, and a lot of the lines have been changed and stuff. So then Seth will go in post-production now and re-voice the character.”

Frost wouldn’t spill the specific locations the characters visit on their alien road trip, but assured fans that he and Pegg did research during their own real-life UFO tour. “I don’t want to say, because it would give away bits about the plot, but Simon and I did the road trip a couple of years ago,” Frost said. “In January we hired an RV, and we drove from L.A. for eight, nine days up through the American Midwest, ending up in Colorado.”

“Paul” will hit theaters in 2010.

There is also a rumor that Pegg is doing a film with David Tennant (the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who). I would love to see that pairing!
