Before the new series “Flash Forward” debuted, the production team had mapped out a season-long and series-long arc for the show.
And while we don’t know if we’ll get to see the entire series arc, at least we’ll get to see the full season arc. ABC gave the green light for a full season of the freshman drama yesterday. The order extends the episode count from 13 to 22.
The series has delivered solid ratings against CBS’s “Survivor” and has done extremely well when DVR figures are factored in. According to the Hollywood Reporter, ratings for “Flash Forward” grew by 32% when DVR viewing was factored into the equation.
That’s the best numbers for any freshman series of the year and is well above the ratings delivered by “Ugly Betty” in the same time slot last year.
“Flash Forward” airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

This is a good thing.
Well played, ABC.
(In addition to factoring in all of the DVRing, I hope they're also factoring in all of the "tickets" on BT Airlines as well.)
I got bored with this series after the second episode. I just could take the hour long torture for next to no plot development.
Did anyone else notice that the "forward" happens on a Thursday night, possibly the season finale night? So bascially the minute after the finale it would be 10:00pm on April 29, 2010 or the "flash forward moment".
Or ... will this show be a 3 year story telling of a 6 month period... rather than in "real time".?
Then... what does that mean if we do get real time episodes. What happens next season if we are "after" the forward.... If this is real time I strongly suspect we will see more flashes of other timelines.
Good, maybe this will mean the show will pick up some...well....I don't really care about these people and their relationship troubles. It's not my thing. It's why I didn't get into Defying Gravity.
I am giving it a season. am getting a bit tired of people saying that you can't say something bad about the start of a series, because it might get better. Of course it might get better, but that does not mean you can not criticize the beginning of the series.
Emily - You're just a COLD HEARTED person! We just figured it out!
I KEED! I KEED!
Sometimes the interpersonal drama isn't for everyone. I don't think it's that you CAN'T be critical from the start but not EVERY show is going to be amazing from the VERY first show. Most shows need to mature, find their voice and get on that journey.
I agree that the pacing is way too slow to keep most people's attention...and that can be a bad thing to a series. I think ABC had already invested a metric asston of cash and I am NOT surprised they want to bring it back for more since it's paying their bills.
