On this week’s Slice of SciFi, we’ll have some good news for “Dollhouse” fans. If you want to know more, you’ll have to tune in for the live taping Thursday night or Saturday when the episodes goes live.
Until then, we have some other good news for “Battlestar” fans who may be concerned about “Caprica.”
Rumors have sprung up that the series was in trouble due to lower-than-expeted DVD sales for the pilot episode and a recent prodution shutdown for the series. With NBC Universal killing off “Southland” before an episode of its second season aired in the mothership network, fans were worried that “Caprica” might get the axe before it debuted next year on SyFy (which is owned by NBC Universal).
Fans can breath a bit easier today. Alpha Airlock has contacted SyFy and the network is still behind the “Battestar Galactica” prequel.
“We actually took a break, shut down for a few weeks, so that we could at the mid-point regroup and say, ‘OK, what have we learned from the first 10, and where do we want to go from here,” said Mark Stern, the head of original programming for Syfy.
However, SyFy may be adjusting their expectations for the series downward a bit. The release of the pilot on DVD was hoped to sell five million copies. So far, sales haven’t reached that number.
“Caprica” will debut next year on SyFy.

Since they're going to air the pilot episode on TV, I just didn't see a reason for me to buy the DVD of it.
I'll bet it's been downloaded MORE than 5 million times.
Downloads are not $$ and don't show the same level of interest as buying a DVD. Based on what I saw at Dragon*Con, the series is going to go into some very dark places.
Lower than expected DVD sales? Umm, it beat BSG's sales which were considered very good The majority of TV show don't reach 150,000. Caprica sold 300,000 and people hadn't even ever seen the show. How on earth can that be disappointing?
When someone in Hollywood announces they're project isn't in trouble, then you know it is in trouble.
Since when did they start marking the possible success of a series by how many copies the pilot sold. And considering the pilot is usually included in the first season dvd set why would I want to buy it by itselft. If you need money to get the thing going just ask for donations.
