It was a good weekend for romantic comedy at the box-office with “Couples Retreat” taking in a healthy $35.5 million in ticket sales. That total was enough to put the new comedy on top of the box-office chart in its first week, despite getting just average review from critics.
In second was last week’s number one film, “Zombieland.” The film dropped 39% from last week to take in $15 million.
Third place went to “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” at $12 million and fourth place went to the 3-D re-release of “Toy Story 1” and “2”.
“Paranormal Activity,” broke into the top ten with a fifth place showing in limited release.
