Warner Brothers To Release “Ultimate” Editions of Harry Potter

September 18, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Film News, On DVD

Have you been collecting the Harry Potter films as they’re released on DVD and Blu Ray?

While the original releases have been packed with extra features, Warner Brothers is looking to double dip.

Just in time for Christmas, Warner will release ultimate editions of all the movies onto DVD and Blu Ray. The new editions hit shelves on December 8. That release date is also when this summer’s “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince” will hit DVD and Blu Ray.

Each release will include a new one hour documentary on the making of each film. Each new one-hour featurette highlights a unique aspect of the filmmaking process and will be combined to make the complete eight-hour documentary.

If they’re available separately, and if I have the money, I’ll just 5 and 6 as these SEs, since I’m perfectly happy with the versions of 1-4 I already have.

Do they add any actual content to the movie itself? I know when ABC Family runs the movies, there are extra scenes and such added in.

“Making Of” documentaries are lame. I’m not gonna shell out more coin for another copy of a movie unless there’s extra footage or a new cut of the film. I could care less what the actors think or what their aspirations are… I just want to see the film.
