Actor Nicolas Cage created a bit of a buzz last week when he decided to bow out of the upcoming “Green Hornet” movie. Cage has been cast as the villain in the upcoming film, starring Seth Rogan and directed by Michael Goundry.
At the time, no reason was given as to why Cage decided to walk away from the role. But now the actor has come out and said that he left the role because it didn’t have the depth he wanted.
“‘The Green Hornet’ was something that I wanted to do,” Cage said. “I think Michel Gondry is very talented and I had hoped it would work but I think Seth Rogen and Michel had a different take on the character. I had to have some humanity and to try to give it something where you could understand why the character was the way he was but I don’t think there was enough time to develop it.”
Cage may have made the statement in response to rumors that he left the role in a dispute over his salary for the project.
Cage has since been replaced by actor Christoph Waltz, who can been seen in “Inglorious Basterds.”
Kurt in St. George says
If Nicolas Cage walked away from this movie because of he perceived his character lacked depth, he should have walked away from about half the movies he has done in the past ten years.
