While “Defying Gravity” hasn’t yet been canceled, American distributor ABC has pulled the final five episodes of the season.
Fans who want to make their voices heard and politely ask the network to show the final episode and consider picking up the second season (if it happens) can send feedback to the alphabet network through their website.
Make sure your comment are polite and succinct if you decide to use the feedback box to contact ABC.
Currently Slice of SciFi is not aware of any fan campaigns to help make ABC executives aware of their strong feelings for the show. If you know of any, please leave them in the comments section or drop us a line to let us know. We will try to update this thread with that contact information.

I’m a huge sci fi fan and I have to say that this show sucks. It’s like General Hospital in space. I won’t miss it.
Sista Soul-Jah says
I just want to find out what the beta thing is and then they can go ahead and cancel it. Fine by me.
Michael Mennenga says
Wow….
And this is the reason why shows get killed before they get a chance. How do you even know what this show is about? It has 6 episodes…!!!
All the elements are in place for a great story, great characters, and a very cool mystery on another planet.
What could be better for scifi fans?
Michel Daw says
I agree with Michael. I have watched this show since the beginning, and being I Canada means that I will keep watching it. It is a fantastic human drama, set in a slightly distant future. No guns blazing, no sexy robots, but plenty of drama and a great story. Great science fiction is fiction first, then science. (Star Wars, Star Trek (when it was good), Blade Runner, etc)

It may not be amazingly sci-fi true, but the special effects are really good, and it’s pretty well written. I hope that abc doesn’t cancel it, and that they give it more of a chance, since right now, this is pretty much one of the only original shows showing on tv.
Bert Singels says
Yes, i too agree. how can you judge a show so quickly. I think this show has great potential and it would be a real shame to see it end so soon.
Skiznot says
Shows can surprised you but you but I also think it’s fair to judge them as they come. I found BSG, Terminator, Bab5 to be great shows from the start. I even knew from 2 episodes of dollhouse and fringe that they were shoes I could get into. DG just doesn’t measure up. I’m still hoping it will prove me wrong because I love some of the cast and visuals but hate some of the writing. The ultimate proof that given time a show can really turn it arround is TNG. Some of that first season was horrendous but it eventually resulted in bringing sci-fi back to TV.
Skiznot says
omg. I’m done with typing/editing on the fly. Maybe “Beta” is messing with my motor skills for dissing the show :p
Michael Mennenga says
Well… if you all remember.. We had very little interest in Fringe for the first 6 eps and then BAM..!! It jelled in two eps and became amazing.
I’m just saying… you never know till it has a season under it.
Another perfect example. Prime evil was horrendous for the entire first season, then Wham..!! they came back with awesome and it never stopped.
The world of storytelling takes some time to get rolling.

Mike is right – sometimes you just have to let a program get some script traction to see its true worth.
Dont know what is more depressing – the fact that it has been pulled or that ABC will prob stick something like WWF in its place for the intellectuals in their audience.
MichaelL says
This is a good show! Screw ABC! I hope CTV in Canada, where I live continues to show the series, since it was produced here!
Brian Brown says
Skiznot – Uhhh.. did you and I watch the same season one of Bab5? That is a PAINFUL show to watch the first year.. same could be said about ST:TNG. PAINFUL.. but we soldiered on, put up with the crap and things turned out AMAZING!
Richard Amirault says
Yes, the first season of B5 (especially the pilot) was (I’m being generous here) not very good. But I can understand why folks don’t want to watch every show for a whole season before deciding … for me it’s a time factor .. I’ve got too many other things to do than watch poor TV. I stuck with B5, and I’m glad I did, but if it were shown today?? I don’t don’t know if I would.
RE: Defying Gravity I had never even heard of the show until Mike & the gang started talking about it on Slice. A couple of weeks ago I finally went to Hulu and watched all the early episodes .. and made it a point to watch the newest ep on live TV.
It’s not a great show, but I’d keep watching it if it were still on.
Richard Amirault says
And by the way … I’m not a kid (likely older than all of you) .. and I happen to LIKE professional wrestling .. AND .. SF.
Kyle Nin says
“I found BSG, Terminator, Bab5 to be great shows from the start.”
Oh wow, am I ever the opposite.
I hated “BSG” at the start. It was boring, repetitive, and I didn’t care about any of the characters. It wasn’t really worth watching until maybe the second half of season two (definitely three).
“Terminator” had an excellent pilot episode, but then it deteriorated very quickly after that. The only thing that saved it (in my opinion) was the inclusion of Derek Reese. But even then, it was only enough of a save to give it another season. Making a drama series based on an action movie is not a good idea.
And I never watched “Babylon 5”, mainly for the fact that I thought it was a ripoff of “Deep Space Nine”.

There are some campaigns out there – there are at least two petitions and some other ideas – trying to get people to twitter and Watch the online episodes this Sunday and Next as well as other – try here http://defyinggravity.wetpaint.com/page/Save+Our+Show+-+Beta+Siren+Call and the facebook page for more info
Skiznot says
Hi Kyle, I’m in the minority on many of those so don’t feel you are the opposite. I wasn’t making a judgement on weather the show was good/bad, I just knew early on that they were shows I could get into (I saw the spark). Didn’t mean to side track the discussion from DG just saying I currently don’t have the same “feeling” that I had early on with the other shows I mentioned. But TNG was the one example that proved me wrong, I found it initially unwatchable but picked it up in season 3 and it was a different show. So, I personally wouldn’t miss it if it went away but I’VE CHANGED MY MIND and will contact ABC to add to the chorus, if only because Slice had turned me on to so many cool things that I owe you guys!
also
I only gave Fringe a change because slice said it was cool but I also like that one from the start mean I felt the BAM at the pilot.
Skiznot says
There! I contacted the ABC and told them I changed favorite networks just because of DG :p
Now where do I go to find the discussion on why people think B5 coppied DS9 (or vice versa) when they both came out at the same time! Same TV season!
Aeryn Soon says
I love DG. I loved it from the first ep. Could use less raunch and more cool cgi shots. I’ve got to find out what beta is. I do not want to have to run a H2IK sequence on beta. So, I’ve contacted ABC about my luv of it. If you luv it, you gotta tell them!
Wolf342 says
There is another campaign started over on this site: http://defyingravityonline.com. I sure hope it works, hate for this show to die such a quick death!
Brian from Fort Wayne says
I love DG too. It’s more about human drama than whiz-bang effects, which I find refreshing. Granted, it is a slow burn but given a chance I think the pay-off will be worth it.
Shane says
As long as CTV keeps making it I can still “acquire” it but does anyone know if the production of the show relies on foreign (ABC) sales?
Justathought says
I thought it was a promising series with an interesting developing plot. The pace was a bit slow, but I was looking foreword to the unfolding mystery. A real shame that ABC paid for the episodes and then did not air them. Leaves the growing audience hanging. After “Jericho” was canceled in middle of the storyline, I seldom invest my time in TV series with unfolding plot lines that a network can kill in the middle of the story.
This lack of respect for viewers will come back to bite the networks as a growing number of viewers become disenchanted and refuse to hook up to long story lines.
Maybe ABC will do a couple of wrap-up episodes and put the whole Season out in DVD form?
