Morgan Wants To Play Lobo

Morgan Wants To Play Lobo

September 14, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

morganA couple of weeks ago, we brought you news that a big-screen version of D.C.’s comic book character “Lobo” was in the works.

Now actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played The Comedian in this year’s “Watchmen” has expressed interest in playing the title role.

“Lobo would be very cool,” Morgan tells SciFi Wire. “I don’t think that I’m as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke’s body onto my head, that would be just great.”

“[Graphic novels] are an untapped world for me,” Morgan added. “Every time I kind of hear about something, I go out and get the book or I look it up on one of your guys’ sites. We’ll see. You’re always looking for material that’s kind of smart and fun, and this seems to be where it is right now. The studios are really gravitating towards it. More than I’ve ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now, and I don’t see that going away for at least the next couple of years.”

He went on to say that he may have a leg-up on the competition for the role because he has friends on the production team for Lobo.

The actor went on to say that he is also open to reprising his role as Sam Winchester on the CW’s “Supernatural.”

“I just read somewhere that [series creator Eric] Kripke wants me back,” Morgan said. “That guy, I think he’s probably lying, but if it is, in fact, their last year, I’d like to come back. If it really is going to be canceled after this year, I’d like to come back. I’ve been saying for the last four years that that storyline got cut out too soon. I’d love to go back for at least one episode or something. I love those guys. I love Jared and Jensen so much. We’ll see. No one has contacted me.”

Morgan said that it might be difficult to find the time in his schedule to return, but he’s definitely willing to try and make it happen.

Um, Jeffrey Dean Morgan played JOHN Winchester, not Sam. Sam’s the son.
