When word came down that Fox had decided to no longer order new episodes of “King of the Hill,” fans wondered if they’d ever seen the final episodes of the series.
At the time, Fox has contracted for 13 new epiosdes of the series, but 17 episodes had been produced, including the final episode that was intended to offer some closure on the long-running series. However, Fox seemed reluctant to air the finale becuase doing so would require a different deal than originally struck to air the episodes.
For a while, fans were stuck with the prospect of having to find the finale in syndication or on the eventual DVD release. And with “King” DVDs lagging far behind its current season, the wait could be a while.
But, for once, Fox appears to have stepped up and done the right thing by a show its put out to pasture. The network renogitated the deal to allow them to show the finale of “Hill” this Sunday at part of a one-hour send-off to the show. The finale airing means there are still four unaired episodes that “King” enthusiasts will have to find in syndication or on DVD, but at least they’ll get to see the finale as the creators intended.
However, you shouldn’t read too much into the world finale. While the episode does offer some closure, it’s not series-ending. The production team is still open to another network picking up new episodes or possibly following the same route as “Family Guy” and “Futurama” back into production.
The one-hour Fox-finale of “King of the Hill” airs this Sunday evening.

Who cares? King of the Hill was never a good show. Still not sure how it managed to last so long on the air. Glad to see it's gone, though.
All this was was a copy of "Carter Country" from the late '70's that aired on ABC when Jimmy Carter occupied the White House. It only lasted this long because of the last occupant of the White House despite what anyone connected to it wants to say publicly. Just waiting to see what Hollywood tries to do next with Obama in the White House.
Hey "Mitch from Omaha" , bite it. This is/was a great show. Hence the 13 years it ran....duh
haha
Just watched the finale and the ending was pretty cool. Nice to see Bobby and Hank finally finding some common ground. Loved how all the characters gathered in the end. Glad they showed a happy moment between Dale & Nancy. The Boomhauer wallet scene was funny blah blah just watch it
will miss this show. Always had a good laugh the writing was always strong and they seemed to always throw in some relatable conflicts and the resolution of most episodes was always touching.
The show will be missed
