Is Bryan Singer trying to relive his childhood?
It appears that may be the case. The director, who brought us the first two “X-Men” movies and “Superman Returns,” has been in the news a lot lately for his attempts to reboot some genre icons on the big-screen. Last week, we learned he was linked to Universal’s reboot of “Battlestar Galactica” and now we have news that he’s linked to another reboot.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Singer has signed a deal with Warner Brothers to produce and potentially direct a reboot of the 80’s King Arthur movie, “Excalibur.”
WB and Legendary Pictures labored for months to pull together the rights to the film, which Singer will produce with Julie Yorn. Polly Johnsen.
Singer hasn’t yet hired a writer for the project.
“Excalibur” is one of the iconic films in the King Arthur legend.
Surely there are some new takes on the Arthur legend that could be adapted for the big-screen. Maybe Hollywood could consider the Mary Stewart series of novels about Merlin and King Arthur.
