Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” led the box-office over the weekend, taking in $37.6 millon and making it the largest opening for a film by Tarantino.
The opening was $10 million more than Hollywood experts predicted and easily beat out “Kill Bill, Volume 2” for the biggest weekend opening for the director.
In second was last week’s top film, “District 9.” The movie dropped 49% in its second week, taking in $18.9 million.
The $30 million picture has done $73.5 million in 10 days.
“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” continues to do well, coming in third for the weekend.
“The Time Traveler’s Wife” was fourth with $10 million, followed by the comedy “Julie & Julia” with $9 million.
