Patton Oswalt Joins “Caprica” Cast

patton-oswalt-wi-0707-lgActor and comedian Patton Oswalt is joining the cast of the “Battlestar Galactica” spin-off “Caprica.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Oswalt will have a recurring role as Baxter Sarno, a popular Caprican comedian talk show host.

Some of the details about his role could be SPOILER material, so if you don’t want to know more, turn back now….

According to reports, Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomson) will appear on Sarno’s show during the first season of the new series.

Oswalt had a guest role earlier this year on Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” and starred on the CBS comedy, “The King of Queens.”

    Well, I guess if you’re going to have a comedian talk show host, you might as well get a comedian to do it.

    As I stated over at our Farpoint Forums:

    If he were anything other than a comedian talk show host his casting could have been disasterous. However, in that role, the casting is just short of genius.

    His role on Dollhouse was really great. Yeah, I can see him doing this on Caprica.

    I’ve never been a fan of KoQ, but I do enjoy his standup and he was absolutely wonderful on Dollhouse. This role should suit him quite well. Whether Caprica will keep me interested long enough to get to his story remains to be seen.

    I was very impressed with his performance on Dollhouse. I hope they give more to do than just be a talk show host. He’ll do a great job no doubt but he’s proven he can do more.
