Actor Hugh Jackman has been talking about a sequel to “Wolverine” since it opened in theaters earlier this summer. Now the sequel has taken another step closer to becoming reality with the news 20th Century Fox has hired Christopher McQuarrie to pen the sequel.
The sequel will adapt a popular storyline that first appeared in Marvel Comics’ Chris Claremont/Frank Miller miniseries and found Wolverine in Japan, dealing with ninjas as he struggles whether to follow his animal killer instincts or the life under a samurai’s code of honor and respect.
Jackman has been vocal in the press, expressing his desire to pursue the plotline in the sequel. Of course, that means he’ll be back for the next film, reprising his role as the famous mutant with claws.
McQuarrie wrote a draft of the original “X-Men” film but had his name removed from the credits.

Hmm. I generally like Chris McQuarrie’s work, but ninjas? Really? And I had no idea that he was another big name who wrote a draft on the original film. I wonder if they kept more or less of his work than the two Joss Whedon lines that survived all the rewrites…

I am just too done with this franchise. Wolverine was WAY too much for me.
