After months of limbo, Heath Ledger’s final performance in “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” has found a distributor for its United States theatrical run.
Variety reports that Sony Classics is in advanced talks to pick up the distribution rights to the Terry Gilliam directed film, which features Ledger’s final performance before his untimely death last year.
Because of the structure of the script, three other actors including Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell were able to step in and fill in for Ledger.
The film has languished in limbo for some time now, despite receiving a screening at this year’s Cannes film festival. Studios and distrubitors were unsure of how to market the Gilliam film, though there is a great deal of public interest due to the stars involved and it being Ledger’s final performance.
