Four Join “Red Dawn” Cast

Four Join “Red Dawn” Cast

August 10, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

isabel-lucasAdd four more Wolverines to the cast of the upcoming remake of “Red Dawn.”

Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Edwin Hodge have joined the cast, according to the Hollywood Reporter.  They join Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck and Adrianne Palicki in the remake from United Artist according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Hutcherson will play Robert, originated by C. Thomas Howell, and become the group’s tech geek. Lucas is Erica, head cheerleader and the Peck character’s girlfriend whom he desperately hopes to spring from an internment camp. Lea Thompson played the character in the original.

Cruise is playing Daryl, the son of Spokane’s mayor and Robert’s best friend. And Hodge will play Danny, the coolest kid in school and star wide receiver who helps establish the resistance.

“Red Dawn” follows a group of teenagers who form an insurgency when their town is invaded — this time by Chinese and Russian soldiers.

Dan Bradley is directing from a screenplay by Jeremy Passmore and Carl Ellsworth.

Filming begins next month and “Red Dawn” will hit theaters September 10, 2010.

I hope this movie is good, but I have my suspicion that they will not be able to overcome our fond memories of the original.

A Red Dawn remake..this could be good. I think the original movies budget was around 15 million, the remake is rumored around 50 o 60million so it sounds like it will have plenty of action. Ive heard Kurt Russell was going to be in it.
China and Russia will be the invaders and that itself should put some butts in the seats at the movie theaters. China/Russia vs USA . I think the premise will have our friends in China/Russia use some serious cyberwarefare on the US power and defense grids, shoot down US satellites in space with intercontinental missles, which will leave the US blind and unable to communicate and coordinate its armed forces. couple that with some EMP, chemical or tactical nuke strikes on key points of communication. ( In the original the Russians nuked DC, Seattle, Omaha,Kanas City in the first phase of the invasion) so who knows if something like that scenario will be mentioned in the remake. Since the Russians will be allies of China i guess the Russian air and naval forces will help transport Chinese troops considering Chinas navy doensnt even have one air craft carrier(not yet anyway). I hope that in the remake we see more of the Russian/Chinese forces engaged in battle with US forces, with the wolverines sort of caught in between trying to escape or whatever, For cinemas sake everyone would get totally caught up in that. Imagine yourself in your hometown and Russian/Chinese forces are fighting US forces, the chaos that would take place. Think of the recent War of the Worlds movie where the US army was fighting on the hill against the tripods and the civilians were caught in between, something akin to that maybe. Well anyway hope this movie is good.
Since I’m from North Carolina, the folks in my state would have a somewhat different rally cry than “wolverines” although it would represent the same spirit of defiance against the commie invaders, The NC rally cry “TARHEELS”
    cant wait until September 2010

ok Red Dawn is getting remade, well that sounds ok, loved the original, especially the ending (The reading of the rock). If the remake ends the same way as the original, who wants to bet that the last two surviving “wolverines” will be Connor Cruises character and either Isabel Lucas or Adrianne Palicki character. No way Connor Cruises character will die in this movie. No Way.
Wonder if there will be any Chinese/Russian gunships in this remake, hope so. as well as some tanks. Ive heard that so far only vehicles that have been seen in the filming areas are the “chinese” hummers. well time will tell.
Hope this film kicks a whole lot of you know what.
    And remember Communism SUCKS!!!!
