One of Hollywood’s heavy weight directors is interested in taking over the regins for a big-screen verison of “Halo.”
Citing anonymous sources, web site IESB reports that Steven Spielberg has been “blown away” by the script for a proposed “Halo” movie and is working to acquire the rights for DreamWorks pictures. IESB says the director is interested in the project as a tent-pole for DreamWorks studios. The studio recently lost the rights for “Transformers” when it split from Paramount Studios.
The script for this “Halo” project is by Stuart Beattie and is based on the prequel novel, “Halo: The Fall of Reach.”
The project was originally overseen by Peter Jackson and due to be directed by Neill Blomkamp. However, that project never saw the light of day and resulted in Jackson and Blomkamp working together on the upcoming “District 9.”
Kurt in St. George says
I have a feeling that District 9 is going to make a Halo movie irrelevant. If that turns out to be incorrect I don’t think Spielberg is up to the task, his style is sometimes too cutesy and almost always too predictable.
Seeing as the producers have removed Jackson I would like to see someone who knows how to handle over the top action like Quentin Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez take it on.
