If you’re a genre television fan, you may want to stockpile a little more in your holiday saving account. Or maybe tap into it a little earlier this year.
November is shaping up to be a good month for fans.
As we previously reported, November 17 sees the DVD and Blu-Ray release of one of this year’s biggest hits, “Star Trek.”
Then, there’s the long-anticipated return of “Farscape” on DVD. At the recent San Diego Comic Con, some details of the set were made available. The new 25-disc megaset will retail for $149.99 and hits shelves on November 17. The set includes all four seasons of the show plus the “Farscape Undressed” special that was a catch-up special that ran before the third season.
Here’s a list of some of the other extras and goodies in the set:
- 29 Episode Commentaries, including “Premiere” with Rockne S. O’Bannon, Brian Henson and Ben Browder; “Jeremiah Crichton” with Claudia Black, Producer/Writer David Kemper, Browder and O’Bannon; “Bone to Be Wild” with Anthony Simcoe; “Relativity” with Lani Tupu (Crais/Voice of Pilot) and Director Peter Andrikidis; and, “Bad Timing” which features Browder, Black and Kemper discussing the series’ final episode.
- Multiple featurettes and documentaries including “In the Beginning: A Look Back with Brian Henson”; “Making of a Space Opera” and “Inside Farscape: Save Farscape,” on which fans, cast and crew discuss the fate of their beloved series.
- Multiple video profiles featuring archival clips and cast/crew discussing their characters and roles on Farscape.
- Over 90 minutes of deleted scenes.
- Slideshows and archival photo galleries, including character concepts and promo photos.
- Production design galleries featuring screenshots, rough drafts and concept slide shows.
- Behind-the-Scenes interviews with Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Anthony Simcoe, Virginia Hey, Gigi Edgley, Paul Goddard (Stark), Wayne Pygram (Scorpius) and more.
- Original TV promos and trailers
Fans will also be able to pick up individual full season sets on November 17. However, you can only get the fifth set with the MegaSet.
However, some wallets may just be recovering from two weeks earlier when two new classic “Doctor Who” sets hit stores. Coming to DVD in the United States on November 3 are the three-disc set for the final Patrick Troughton story, “The War Games” and the four-disc set “The Black Guardian Trilogy.” The trilogy includes three stories with the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison–“Mawdryn Undead,” “Terminus” and “Enlightenment.”
Here are some more details on the extras fans can expect on the set from the official press release.
