Good news, everyone!
When “Futurama” returns, the original voice cast will all be back. According to Variety, the vocal talents behind Fry, Bender, Leela and the rest of the crew from Planet Express will all be back lending their voices to the animated series. A new deal was reached Friday between Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, John DiMaggio and Billy West and 20th Century Fox, who produces the show.
“We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back,” “Futurama” creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen said in a statement. “The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters.”
Financial terms of the agreements were not released but it is understood that both sides have made compromises to bridge the initial salary gap. The actors were said to have asked for several times what the studio was offering.
The dispute between the “Futurama” voice cast and 20th TV escalated earlier this month when the studio hired casting directors to recast the roles.
