Fantasy Novel “The Warded Man” Gets Film Pick-up

Director/producer Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt (”Resident Evil”) have teamed up again by buying up the film rights to the futuristic fantasy story “The Warded Man” (a.k.a. “The Painted Man”) from writer Peter V. Brett.

Anderson will co-produce with Bolt and will sit center seat for the book-to-film project.

“The Warded Man” is a tale set in a darkened, feudal-like future that has humankind being stalked nightly by demon-like beings. Eventually, three young people rise from the ashes and begin to set into motion a turning of the tide. Led by a man with tattoos all over his body, each tatoo being a different spell to ward off evil, these three begin to bring humanity back from the brink.

Anderson hasn’t been this excited about a new project since first bringing the Resident Evil franchise to film. “We got wind of it when it was in galley form before the U.K. release,” commented the famed director. “We think it has the potential to be a new ‘Lord of the Rings’-style epic, and the book has all this great imagery.”

The entire demonic series, as written by Brett, is a trilogy, and both Anderson and Bolt see the films taking that same formula. To learn more about Brett and his works GO HERE.
