“Fallen” Takes Box Office Crown

No surprises at the box-office this weekend.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” drew new record-setting box-office totals over its five day opening.  The movie took in $201.2 million in receipts since opening last Wednesday.  The five-day total was just shy of the total set by “The Dark Knight” last summer.

The movie was powered by a record $60.6 million Wednesday opening.

In a distant second was last week’s top movie, “The Proposal.”  It took $18.5 million.

In third was “The Hangover,” taking in $17.2 million.

“Up” was fourth with $13 million, lifting its five-week total to $250.2 million.  The receipts pushed the latest Pixar release past “Star Trek” as the highest grossing movie of the year.
