Audience wants to laugh. At least that’s the message you could take from this weekend’s box office results.
The top two ticket sellers this weekend at the box office were both comedies. Coming in first was Sandra Bullock’s new romantic comedy, “The Proposal.” The movie took in just over $34 million in receipts.
In second was the number one movie from the last two weeks, “The Hangover” with $26.9 million.
And while the new “Star Trek” is the current money leader for the year, that crown may soon be passed to Pixar’s “Up.” The movie came in third with $21.3 million, pushing its total domestic box office numbers to $224.1 million.
