The proposed remake of “The Birds” is proving to be more difficult than producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form anticipated.
One reason is the film is so associated with legendary director Alfred Hitchcock that his shadow literally hangs over every attempt at an update to the script, Fuller told SciFi Wire.
Another is the limitation of what the birds can do and how they can attack their unsuspecting victims.
” What do they do? They peck and poke,” Fuller said.
“And poop,” added Form.
“Right, so there’s not a lot of variety as to what can happen,” Fuller continued. “So it’s hard. It’s a much harder movie to do. As you guys know, we lay ourselves out there and get annihilated out there online all day long, and that movie just opens us up to a whole different level of annihilation.”
“”We keep trying, but I don’t know,” Fuller said. “I mean, that’s so hard and to get the script right. We continue, and we struggle, and I just don’t have a ton to say about it until we’ve got something good.”
“In terms of why pursue it, as a producer you pursue a bunch of things, and the ones that come to fruition, you make, and the other ones you try, and it’s a good effort,” Fuller added.

I guess we better not tell these guys about the whole bird flu thing, they might green light it then.

Thank goodness they realize their mistake now. And i do believe there was a Bird II or something like it. Dreadful. I tire of decent movie being remade into utter crap.
