Universal To Remake “Videodrome”

Universal To Remake “Videodrome”

April 27, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Universal Pictures has given the green light for a remake of David Cronenberg’s 1983 movie, “Videodrome” according to Variety. The new remake will reportedly take the original film’s concept, modernize it, infuse it with the possibilities of nano-technology and blow it up into a large-scale sci-fi action thriller.

The script for the film will be written by Ehren Kruger with Daniel Bobker as producer.

Because of their involvement with the original production, Universal had the right of first refusal on a remake. The studio was apparently very interested in the remake and eagerly signed on.

The original “Videodrome” starred James Woods as the head of Civic TV Channel 83, who makes his station relevant by programming “Videodrome,” a series that depicts torture and murder that transfixes viewers.

And what do you think about this, Michael? Too bad we couldn’t get your take on the subject.

I personally hate it. Remake after remake after remake. I’m getting so tired of this.
