On my call regarding the writer’s strike driving the plethora of remakes… I did say in the latter part of my call which was excised from the show that you would eventually need a writer, but that by buying the rights to a previously made film you could get started on many aspects of the film before needing to hire a writer, giving you the buffer you need until the strike ends.
For instance with Day the Earth Stood Still, you can start basic design on Gort and the space ship, early costuming and concept work, and even basic casting and crew line-up. You can’t complete that before you hire a writer(s), but you can keep the film companies working and get all the deals in order and not just close up shop before the whole thing is over.

Also, on Spy Kids, you aren’t really assinine (though if you’re dissing it before you’ve seen it, you should at least take a look), but I was really shocked that more of you didn’t like this and were willing to write it off so quickly.

Seriously, how is it that I was the only one who really liked the original “Spy Kids”?
Lizzie says
I LOVE THAT MOVIE SUMMER!
It has always been one of my favorites.
Brian Brown says
Summer – Pretty much, but we’ve also said that your taste in movies is suspect.. much like Krazy Joe’s! 😉 And I have seen Spy Kids – It wasn’t all that thus my comments. 🙂
JTony – Your lucky Mike only took PART of your VM. heh. He’s been pretty strict as of late when it comes to LOOOOOOOOOONG voice mails.

I liked Spy Kids. I thought Robert Redford and Brat Pitt were both great in it………what?

I consider any movie starring Antonio Badactor suspect.

I noticed a trend. Callers voicing criticism, even mild criticism, tend to be made fun of both during the playing of their voicemails, and in the following comments (as it happened with the first-time caller questioning the dismissal of Spy Kids).
Just to be clear, this is not criticism; it’s an observation. A subtle but important distinction which will hopefully keep derision from being draped all over me.
