While certain events of the new “Star Trek” film will take place during the era of “Next Generation,” none of “TNG” cast will appear in the film. This information comes from a source for TrekMovie.
The rumor began earlier this week and was reported here at Slice of SciFi. Turns out the discussion about members of the TNG cast appeared in the movie referred to the prequel comic book series and not to the actual film. So far, the “Star Trek: Countdown” series has seen cameos by Captain Picard and Commander Data.
However, at this time, there are no “TNG” cast members in the upcoming film.
Considering that this is a reboot and is taken from Spock's memory, why would there be any of the "TNG" crew involved in the first place? Last we were led to believe, Spock was working in the Romulan underground to bring about peaceful reunification with Vulcan.
