Should Heath Ledger win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor Sunday evening, his family will accept the award on his behalf according to Rueters. Ledger, who died last year of an overdose, has been nominated for his role as the Joker in “The Dark Knight” and has collected several other awards this year for his work. Many consider him to have the inside track to win the Oscar Sunday evening.
Eventually, the statuette would become the property of his daughter, Matilda Ledger. The Acadamy said Wednesday that Matilda would receive the statuette when she turned 18.
