In what is rapidly becoming a trend, another actor linked to a role in “Iron Man 2” may not be there.  This time, it’s Oscar-nomated actor Mickey Rourke. Last week, media outlets reported Rourke has signed to play the Crimson Dynamo in the upcoming movie.
According to Robert Downey, Jr, it looks like we spoke too soon.  Downey told MTV News that Rourke has not signed on the dotted line yet for the upcoming sequel.
“That’s actually incorrect,” Downey said when asked if Rourke was being considered for the “Iron Man” nemesis.
When pressed as to whether, instead of Crimson Dynamo, Rourke was up for the role of Whiplash, Downey said: “I can neither confirm nor deny that. Or maybe it’s some semblance of both. Here, I can tell you everything about the story except I won’t give away the ending. The nerd stuff is top-drawer security.”
Rourke would be the third actor linked to “Iron Man 2” to not in the film should the story prove to be true. It’s been widely reported that Samuel L. Jackson may not reprise his role as Nick Fury and that actress Emily Blunt has a scheduling conflict that could prevent her participation in the upcoming sequel.
