Americans went to the box office this weekend looking for a laugh and it appears they got it from Kevin James. The former “King of Queens” is on top of the box office receipts for the second weekend in a row with “Paul Blart, Mall Cop.” The movie took in $21 million dollars for the weekend, just edging out the second movie, “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” which took in $20.5 million.
The top five was rounded out by “Gran Torino,” “Hotel For Dogs” and Oscar hopeful, “Slumdog Millionaire.”
Brad Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” stayed in the top ten for the week, taking ninth place.
A final report is due out later this week and we’ll have those results later on Slice of SciFi.
