Fans of Alan Moore’s “Watchmen” can now breath a sigh of relief because the film will debut on March 6 as planned.
Warner Bros. and Fox came to an agreement late last night with 20th Century Fox getting substantial monetary participation (rumored to be as much as $10 million up front plus another million or so to cover the studio’s initial investment) and Warner walks away saving its reputation which would have been dealt a severe blow had no compromise been reached. Fox agreed to remove its demand to have its brand logo from the credits while the WB offered up a hefty share of the big gross expected from this highly anticipated film.
Fox also negotiated to garner funds from any sequels and spinoffs. Warner retains full ownership and rights to the movie/merchandise “Watchmen” name and any of its sequels/spinoffs.
Fox continues to own the rights to the graphic novel and all future sales of said literary product.

... And there was much rejoicing. Poems, songs and the occasional table-dance.
Im not suprised by these events because I thought this would happen. Now we can all go foward.
Wait, does this mean we don't get to riot in the streets? Darn It, the Geek Riots of '09 were going to be a high point...Oh Well, we get the movie anyway.
