When actor Heath Ledger passed away in January of 2008, he was currently working on the Terry Gilliam film, "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus."
With Ledger's death, Gilliam thought for a while that production on the film would cease and possibly be abandoned. But thanks to three of Ledger's contemporaries--Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell--and the fantasy nature of the script, the movie was able to finish filming and was released in theaters last weekend.
J.J. Abrams' career is red-hot. Everything he touches seems to turn to gold.
Abrams is producer of several hit tv series, producer on a variety of successful films and directed the big-screen revival of "Star Trek."

After a hiatus of almost two years, the animated series, "The Boondocks" is returning.
Variety reports that series creator Aaron McGruder announced the return via his Twitter feed. According to the Tweet, the series is currently in production and expected to air in 2010.
Voyager 2, which passed out of our solar system two years ago, continues to send back data and discoveries about the nature of our universe.
The probe is giving NASA scientists a look at the universe beyond our solar system and is currently 8.3. billion miles away from the sun. It's giving us some news from this region, called the "heliosheath," by astrophysicists.

Looking to avoid a crowded field in the early months of 2010, Capcom has decided to push back the release of "Lost Planet 2" and "Super Street Fighter 4" according to USA Today.
In a financial report on Capcom's corporate website, the publisher says both games, along with the new "Monster Hunter" title for the Nintendo Wii, will be postponed to avoid "competing with the major titles that other companies plan to introduce in the 4th quarter."
Hollywood got a Christmas present for the Christmas weekend--a record $264 million in ticket sales.
Leading the way was "Avatar" with just a two percent drop-off in ticket sales from its opening weekend. The James Cameron directed film took in $75 million and has already passed the $200 million mark.
