Another day, another remake.Â
John Carpenter’s “They Live” is next in line to get the redux treatment by Hollywood according to the Hollywood Reporter.  The 1988 film will be remade by Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment.  The two are currently negotiating for the rights to the remake.
The original film starred wrestler Roddy Piper and is best known for an extended fight sequence that includes the line, “I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass … and I’m all out of bubblegum.”
“They Live” centered on a down-on-his-luck construction worker who discovers glasses that let him see aliens walking among us and controlling humanity. The man races against the clock to find a way to stop them.
Currently there is no word yet on who will pen the new version of “They Live.”
Strike Entertainment is also currently working on a remake of another Carpenter film, “The Thing.”
And while they’re not genre-specific films, two other classic movies from the 80s are also in line for updates–“Romancing the Stone” and “Arthur.”
