A few weeks ago, “Pushing Daisies” producer Bryan Fuller said that if ABC pulled the plug on “Daisies” he’d give serious thought to returning to NBC’s “Heroes.” Fuller worked as a producer and writer for the struggling NBC drama during its first season.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fuller is making good on his word and is currently in negotiations with Universal Media Studios to return to the show. In addition to working on “Heroes,” Fuller will also develop new projects for the studio as part of a seven-figure deal.
However, it wouldn’t be until late in the current season of “Heroes” that Fuller’s return would be felt. Fuller is currently finishing production on the final epiosde of “Daisies” and the earliest we’d see his fingerprints on “Heroes” would be its 20th episode (for those of you keeping track at home, this week’s episode was the eleventh of the season). Also, it’s not currently known exactly what role Fuller would take when he returns to the show–whether as a writer or producer or both? Finally, while Fuller would work on this season of “Heroes” there is no guarantee that he’d stay on the series next year, should the drama get a renewal notice from NBC. The deal could allow Fuller to join other Universal projects while he develops his own series.
So, the big question becomes–what impact could or would Fuller have on “Heroes”? If he comes back for the end of the fourth volume of the show, would it be in time to resurrect the show and revive audience interest? And how much impact can he have working on the final four episodes of the season?
