“Four Christmases” Wins Thanksgiving Weekend

December 1, 2008 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Film News

After enjoying Thanksgiving dinner, it appears movie goers were looking to get into the Christmas spirit this past weekend.   The new comedy “Four Christmases” was the top grossing movie at the box-office for the weekend.   Starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn, “Christmases” led the way for the long holiday weekend, taking $31.7 million over three days and $46.7 million since it opened Wednesday.

Last week’s second place film, “Bolt” saw a rise in ticket sales by three percent.  The animated Disney film held on to the second slot at the box-office, taking in $26.6 million.

The top film from last weekend, “Twilight” fell to third, but also saw ticket sales increase for the weekend.

Rounding out the top five were “Quantum of Solace” and the new drama, “Australia.”   The new action movie, “Transporter 3″ was in the top ten at number seven for the weekend.

Final numbers will be released Tuesday.

Twlight’s slip to third is no suprise since the movies fan base has already seen it.
I was expecting Bolt to pick up steam over the weekend so it’s suprising that a Vince Vaughn took first place despite the Christmas theme.
